The Sesquicentennial
of Lake Forest College
During 2007 Lake Forest College celebrated its 150 anniversary of exceptional education and service. It all started when a group of Presbyterian ministers and leaders boarded a northbound train in Chicago. Their goal was to identify a suitable location to construct a new community. And last it did. Lake Forest College, as we find it today, is an academic home to more than 1,400 students from 47 states and 65 nations around the globe. The College is widely acknowledged as a leader in liberal learning. It is an integral part of both the community of Lake Forest and the city of Chicago, sustaining many important cultural, social, and educational relationships. And the College at the beginning of the twenty-first century serves as a center for global cultures on the North Shore.
We welcomed our neighbors to join Lake Forest College during its year-long celebration of special events and programs to commemorate this special anniversary of a very special place.
