Internships

Experience - Beginning your career search depends on it, and most companies want to see that you have it, but how do you get it?

Internships provide an opportunity to explore a field of interest and gain valuable experience outside the classroom. When appropriate, students can earn academic credit for internships, as described in the guidelines linked to the left. Students are eligible to apply for internships for credit following the completion of two years of course work. Work sites include businesses, social service and governmental agencies, and cultural institutions in the Chicago area and beyond, during the academic year or the summer. Chicago, the nation's third largest city, is a world-renowned cultural and financial center known for its distinguished architecture and diverse ethnic neighborhoods. The city and its surrounding areas offer a wealth of resources and internship options.

Students interested in pursuing an internship for academic credit should contact the Center for Chicago Programs or their academic department; those interested in nonacademic internships should visit the Career Advancement Center.
