African American Studies
This interdisciplinary minor, undertaken in conjunction with a regular major, allows students to study the national and international aspects of African American experiences. In addition to the traditional disciplines of literature, history, music, and politics, the focus of this minor may also include the areas of biology, communications, economics, philosophy, psychology, or sociology.
The African American Studies minor provides important insights for students planning a career in communications, education, international studies, law, journalism, business, social work, and politics. In addition, this course of study offers the intellectual preparation for those planning to continue their education on the graduate level.
