Women's and Gender Studies
The program in Women’s and Gender Studies offers an interdisciplinary minor providing students with the opportunity to acquire and apply the tools of scholarship in gender and sexuality. Topics in Women’s and Gender Studies frequently intersect disciplines such as psychology, sociology, politics, and history; similarly, study of the world’s cultures and economies benefits from deeper understanding of women and men as gendered beings and analysis of the ways gender identities are formed and performed. Literature, art, music, theater, and other disciplines increasingly apply critical approaches informed by gender. Under the guidance of an advisor in Women’s and Gender studies, individual students develop a minor program comprised of Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies and five additional courses.
