Important Reminders

PLEASE NOTE:

1. All new students and their families and guests will receive a printed copy of the most recently updated Orientation schedule upon arrival to the College.

2. Be sure to tune into the student-managed College radio station, WMXM (88.9 FM) on Saturday, August 23 for information on Orientation and move-in logistics.

The Gates Center for Leadership & Personal Growth, located in the Stuart Commons on Middle Campus, will have information about campus and the surrounding community this weekend: Saturday, August 23, from 8:00am - 5:00pm, and on Sunday, August 24, from 8:00am - 5:00pm.
The Lake Forest College Mail Services, located in the lower level of Stuart Commons, is open everyday from 10:00am - 4:00pm during New Student Orientation.  Be sure to stop in on Saturday to try your combination and to pick up important check-in materials.
Can't wait to check out "MyForester" or "Facebook?"  Have your personal computer networked to the College system from 9:00am - 9:00pm in the 3rd floor lounge of Nollen Hall on Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24.  Library and Information Technology (LIT) services will also be available the week of August 25 in front of the Gus & Margie Dining Hall from 11:00am - 1:00pm.
The Office of Residence Life is open on  Saturday, August 23, from 8:00am - 3:00pm, and on Sunday, August 24, from 10:00am - 2:00pm.
The Financial Aid Office is open on Saturday, August 23, from 9:00am - 3:00pm, and on Sunday, August 24, from 10:00am - 12 noon.
The Business Office is open on Saturday, August 23, from 9:00am - 3:00pm, and on Sunday, August 24, from 10:00am - 12 noon.
Follett Bookstore will be open on Saturday, August 23, from 9:00am - 5:00pm, and on Sunday, August 24, from 10:00am - 2:00pm.  Get a jump on your reading!  Pick up your books for classes and pick up your first Lake Forest College sweatshirt.
The Admissions Office is open on Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24,  from 8:00am - 4:00pm.
The Donnelley & Lee Library is open on Saturday, August 23, from 10:00am - 5:00pm, and on Sunday, August 24, from 12 noon - 4:00pm.  From Monday, August 25 until Wednesday, August 27, the Library is open from 8:30am - 5:00pm.  Regular Library hours begin on Thursday, August 28, 8:00am - 12 midnight.

The Department of Public Safety, located in the Stuart Commons, is open everyday from 9:00am - 5:00pm during New Student Orientation.  Wait until there is no line to get your photo taken for your student I.D.  Students may acquire a student I.D. in alphabetical order, based on last names, according to the following schedule: Saturday, August 23, (A-H), Sunday, August 24 (I-P), and Monday, August 25 (Q-Z).

Some students on our campuses today engage in a "hook-up" culture of random sexual encounters with other students, usually fueled by alcohol. But, just because some students are getting drunk and "hooking-up" doesn't make it right, or legal. When does a "hook-up" cross the line?

"Measure Your Mind While Feeding It:
Students Researching Memory and Consciousness Using Computers and the College Lawn"

Bob Glassman, Professor of Psychology.  Lake Forest College students have produced research exploring why our human Working Memory capacity is so small.  The approximately seven items we can hold in mind at once is no more than what a lab rat or a bird can do in remembering places it has recently been!  In this session we will explore this phenomenon and discuss student research opportunities.

This practice is for students who depart for the Lake Forest Train Station for their Chicago Excursion at 9:24am or later.

Athletes leaving on the 9:24am train will pick up a bag lunch from Halas Hall.  These students will walk to the train station with Forester Guides to meet their classes.

Those athletes scheduled to depart at 8:24am will not attend this session, but will return to campus in time to participate in the 4:30pm practice.

Joshua Seth entered college at the age of 8 and later completed a 4 year degree program in only 2 years, with a double major, and graduated with honors.  Joshua is a Master Neuro Linguistic Practitioner (NLP) and Board Certified Hypnotherapist (CHt) with the National Guild of Hypnotists. He is committed to helping people reach their goals, transform their lives, and live their dreams by tapping into the power of their own subconscious minds.
